15mm Siniat Fire Board – 2400 × 1200mm
15mm Siniat Fire Board is a fire-performance plasterboard designed for use within tested stud partitions, wall-lining systems and ceiling constructions.
The board has a gypsum core containing fire-resisting fillers and fibres, enclosed within a distinctive pink paper facing. Its enhanced formulation helps complete Siniat drywall systems maintain their integrity and insulation performance for longer when exposed to fire.
Each board is supplied in one fixed specification:

60-Minute System Performance
A correctly specified single-layer Siniat metal-stud non-loadbearing partition can achieve 60 minutes of fire resistance using one layer of 15mm Siniat Fire Board on each face.
This does not mean that one loose board has an independent 60-minute fire rating.
System performance depends on:
- The metal-stud or timber-framing specification
- The framing centres and maximum wall height
- The number and position of board layers
- The board orientation
- The specified drywall screws and fixing centres
- The treatment of horizontal and vertical joints
- The perimeter and deflection-head details
- Service penetrations, sockets, doors and openings
- The quality of workmanship
Use the complete Siniat system reference rather than selecting the board alone from a required fire-resistance period.
Type DF Fire Plasterboard
The board is classified as Type DF under BS EN 520.
The Type F designation identifies a gypsum plasterboard with improved core cohesion at elevated temperatures. The Type D designation relates to controlled density.
This performance-board classification distinguishes it from standard Type A plasterboard.
A2-s1,d0 Reaction to Fire
Siniat Fire Board has a declared reaction-to-fire classification of Euroclass A2-s1,d0.
This classification describes how the board contributes to fire growth:
- A2 indicates very limited contribution to fire.
- s1 indicates limited smoke production under the classification test.
- d0 indicates no flaming droplets or particles within the classification criteria.
Reaction to fire is different from fire resistance. Euroclass A2-s1,d0 does not mean that the individual board provides 60 minutes of compartmentation.
Fire-Resisting Gypsum Core
The gypsum core contains fire-resisting fillers and fibres that help retain cohesion during exposure to high temperatures.
Gypsum naturally contains chemically combined water. During a fire, heat releases this water as vapour, helping control the temperature rise through the complete lining system for a period of time.
The fillers and fibres help the board core remain intact for longer than a standard plasterboard when it is installed as part of the appropriate construction.
Enhanced Strength and Hardness
Siniat describes Fire Board as stronger, harder and heavier than standard plasterboard, providing improved fire, sound and impact performance within Siniat drywall systems.
Its increased performance makes it suitable for areas where a more robust board is required, but it should not be treated as a dedicated high-impact or direct-fixing board unless the selected system specifically supports that use.
Tapered Edges
The tapered longitudinal edges create a shallow recess where adjacent boards meet.
This recess accommodates joint tape and jointing compound, allowing the joints to be finished flush with the surrounding board surface.
Cut edges and short board ends remain square and require treatment in accordance with the selected Siniat jointing and system specification.
Minimal System Build-Up
The 15mm board can form a single board layer on each side of certain tested partition systems, reducing the number of layers required compared with constructions that use multiple standard boards.
The actual partition thickness still depends on the stud depth, board layers, insulation and system details.
Acoustic Performance
The greater mass and enhanced construction can contribute to sound insulation when the board is used within an appropriate partition or lining system.
The board does not have a standalone dB or Rw value. Acoustic performance belongs to the complete construction, including:

How to Install 15mm Siniat Fire Board
Identify the complete tested or classified Siniat system before beginning installation.
Do not select screw centres, stud centres, board orientation or joint treatments from a generic plasterboard guide where a fire-resistance period is required.
1. Verify the System Specification
Confirm:
- The required fire-resistance period
- The exact Siniat system reference
- The framing type, depth and gauge
- The permitted stud or joist centres
- The maximum wall or ceiling dimensions
- The number of board layers
- The required board orientation
- The screw type, length and spacing
- The joint and perimeter treatments
2. Store and Handle the Boards Safely
Store boards flat and dry until required.
A full 2400 × 1200mm fire board is large and heavy. Use a suitable two-person or mechanical handling method and follow the site manual-handling assessment.
Lift boards on edge rather than carrying them flat and unsupported.
3. Inspect the Framing
Before boarding, check that the metal or timber framework is:
- Correctly set out
- Plumb, level and securely fixed
- Installed at the specified centres
- Suitable for the required wall or ceiling height
- Complete around openings and service penetrations
Do not conceal incomplete framing, missing noggins or unsupported board edges.
4. Install Cavity Insulation Where Specified
Fit the specified mineral wool or other cavity insulation before closing the second face.
Use the correct density, thickness and coverage. Avoid gaps, excessive compression or unapproved substitutions.
5. Measure and Cut the Board
Measure the required board dimensions carefully.
For straight cuts, score the paper face with a suitable board knife, snap the gypsum core and cut the reverse paper. Use an appropriate saw or specialist tool for detailed openings.
Wear the required personal protective equipment and control dust when mechanically cutting the board.
6. Position the Board
Offer the board to the framework in the orientation shown by the selected Siniat system.
Ensure that:
- Board edges align with the required framing members.
- The board is supported at required joints.
- The specified perimeter gaps are maintained.
- Board joints are staggered where required.
- The board is not forced tightly into an uneven opening.
7. Fix the Board
Use the specified Siniat self-tapping or self-drilling drywall screws for the framing gauge.
Drive each screw square to the board surface until the head sits just below the paper without tearing through it.
Follow the system-specific screw centres and edge distances. Do not substitute a general-purpose woodscrew or an unverified drywall fixing.
8. Replace Failed Fixings
Where a screw tears through the paper, misses the framing or fails to hold:
- Install a replacement fixing into sound framing nearby.
- Maintain the required edge distance.
- Do not reuse the damaged fixing hole.
- Treat the failed position in accordance with the finishing specification.
9. Install Additional Layers Where Required
Where the system uses more than one board layer:
- Use the specified screw length for each layer.
- Stagger joints between successive layers.
- Offset joints on opposite partition faces where required.
- Complete the specified base-layer joint treatment.
10. Form Openings and Penetrations
Doors, sockets, pipes, ducts and cable penetrations must follow tested or assessed details.
Do not cut oversized openings or leave unsealed gaps around services.
Use the specified framing, pattresses, fire-stopping products and penetration seals.
11. Treat the Perimeter
Complete the head, base and abutment junctions using the sealants, tapes and framing details stated by the Siniat system.
Do not fill a tested deflection-head detail with rigid material unless the system expressly requires it.
12. Tape and Joint the Board
Fill tapered joints using the specified Siniat jointing compound and embed the approved joint tape.
Apply subsequent coats to achieve a smooth transition between boards.
Treat screw heads, cut edges and board ends in accordance with the finishing specification.
13. Prime and Decorate
Allow the jointing system to dry and finish it to the required standard.
Apply the specified Siniat sealer or primer before decorating where required.
Use paint, wallpaper or another finish compatible with the completed plasterboard system.
14. Complete the Final Inspection
Before handover, confirm that:
- The correct 15mm Fire Board has been installed.
- The board layers and orientations match the system.
- Fixings are correctly positioned and seated.
- Joints are treated and staggered as specified.
- Perimeter details are complete.
- Openings and penetrations use approved details.
- No damaged or wet boards remain in the construction.
