Adjustable Suspension Height
The Angel hanger contains an adjustable wire-gripping mechanism. Pressing the release wings allows the hanger to be moved along the suspension wire while the supported load is safely controlled.
This adjustment makes it easier to:

Side and Central Wire Exit Options
Angel Helix is manufactured in two configurations.
Side wire exit is generally intended for single-layer acoustic panel installations. The suspension wire leaves the hanger from the side, helping maintain a compact connection above the panel.
Central wire exit is intended for multi-layer or tiered arrangements where the wire must continue vertically through or above the suspension point.

Quick Helix Connection
The helix attachment is screwed directly into the compatible acoustic panel using an Allen key.
The Angel hanger is then connected to the installed helix using a twist action. A one-click safety feature helps confirm that the hanger has locked into position.
The helix can also be installed into the acoustic panel before the panel reaches site. This can reduce work at ceiling level and leave only the hanger and wire connection to be completed during installation.
Compatible Suspension Wire
The Angel range uses a discreet No. 1 suspension wire with a nominal diameter of 1.5mm.
The wire, ceiling fixing and hanger must form a compatible suspension system. Do not substitute an unapproved wire diameter or construction simply because it passes through the hanger.

Suitable Panel Construction
Gripple identifies the standard Angel Helix for fibreglass and dense-foam acoustic panels at least 40mm thick.
It should not automatically be used with:

- Loose or low-density foam
- Damaged acoustic panels
- Boards with insufficient fixing depth
- Panels whose manufacturer prohibits screw-in suspension fixings
Gripple offers a separate Mini Helix product for certain thinner polyester-fibre and PET acoustic panels. Angel Helix and Angel Mini Helix should not be treated as interchangeable products.
Operating Environment
The published standard operating-temperature range is approximately -20°C to +70°C.
For unusually hot, cold, humid, corrosive or external environments, obtain project-specific confirmation from the manufacturer before installation.

How to Install Angel Helix
Angel Helix must be installed using a compatible acoustic panel, suspension wire and ceiling fixing.
Before beginning, confirm the panel weight, fixing layout, supporting substrate and required number of suspension points.
1. Check the Acoustic Panel
Confirm that the panel:
- Is manufactured from compatible fibreglass or dense foam
- Is at least 40mm thick
- Is structurally suitable for a helical screw fixing
- Is free from damage around the proposed fixing positions
- Does not exceed the permitted load for the complete suspension layout
Do not install the standard Angel Helix into an unsuitable thin, loose or damaged panel.
2. Determine the Suspension Layout
Mark the required hanger positions in accordance with the acoustic panel manufacturer’s instructions or the project-specific suspension design.
The layout should account for:
- Panel dimensions
- Panel weight
- Panel rigidity
- Suspension orientation
- Required ceiling drop
- Potential movement or vibration
- Nearby building services
Use enough suspension points to support the panel evenly without bending, sagging or concentrating the load in one area.
3. Install the Helix Attachment
Position the helix perpendicular to the panel surface at the marked location.
Use a correctly sized Allen key to screw the helix attachment directly into the acoustic panel.
Install it using a controlled twisting action so that:
- The helix enters straight
- The panel surface is not torn
- The fixing does not wobble
- The attachment seats to the required depth
- The panel is not over-compressed
Do not enlarge the fixing location or repeatedly remove and reinstall the helix into the same damaged hole.
4. Install the Remaining Panel Fixings
Repeat the process at every specified suspension position.
Before lifting the panel, check that all helix attachments are:

5. Install the Structural End Fixings
Install a compatible end fixing into the ceiling or supporting structure.

7. Connect the Angel Hanger to the Helix

Continue until the connection locks into position and the one-click safety feature has engaged.
Check the connection manually before applying the panel load.
8. Feed the Wire into the Hanger
With the hanger in its upright operating position, feed the compatible suspension wire into the insertion opening at the top of the Angel body.
Allow the hanger to grip the wire before releasing the panel weight.
Do not introduce the wire through an unintended opening or operate the hanger at an unsupported angle.
9. Raise and Support the Panel
Lift the panel using suitable handling methods and progressively engage each hanger.
Support the panel throughout this process. Do not allow the full weight to hang from one fixing while the remaining suspension points are being connected.
10. Adjust the Suspension Height
Support the load before pressing the hanger’s release wings.
Press the wings and move the hanger carefully along the wire until the required height is reached.
Release the wings fully and confirm that the mechanism has re-engaged.
Repeat at each suspension point until the panel is level and positioned correctly.
11. Check the Completed Installation
Confirm that:
- Every helix attachment remains secure in the panel.
- Every hanger is locked to its helix.
- Every wire is fully gripped.
- Every structural fixing is secure.
- The panel is level.
- The load is shared between the suspension points.
- The panel does not contact surrounding services or finishes.
- The installation remains within the stated working load.
Multi-Tier Installations
Use the central-exit version where specified for a multi-layer or tiered arrangement.
Every panel level must have a verified load path. Do not assume that a hanger supporting one panel can automatically carry an additional lower panel without a system design confirming the combined load.
Adjustment After Installation
Before readjusting a suspended panel:
- Support the panel weight.
- Press the release wings fully.
- Move the hanger gradually.
- Release the wings completely.
- Check that the wire is locked before removing support.
Never press the release mechanism while the load is uncontrolled.
Inspection and Maintenance
Inspect the suspension system periodically and after any impact, alteration or ceiling work.
Check for:
- Movement of the helix within the panel
- Damage or compression around the fixing point
- Loose hanger-to-helix connections
- Wire slippage
- Kinked, frayed or corroded wire
- Loose structural end fixings

Important Load Note
The 15kg safe working load applies to the Angel Helix hanger under the manufacturer’s supported conditions.
