Ecophon Solo White Acoustic Panel Rectangle

Ecophon Solo White Acoustic Panel Rectangle is a frameless, free-hanging acoustic ceiling panel designed to reduce echo, reverberation and general noise build-up inside a room. It is ideal for offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, studios, reception areas, commercial interiors and modern open-plan spaces where a full suspended acoustic ceiling is not suitable.

This variable product is available in two rectangular sizes:

  • 1200 x 600mm Rectangle
  • 1200 x 2400mm Rectangle

Each panel has a clean white finish, straight painted edges and a slim frameless appearance, making it suitable for both acoustic treatment and interior design-led projects.

What is the Ecophon Solo Rectangle used for?

Ecophon Solo Rectangle panels are used to improve room acoustics by absorbing sound energy. They help reduce reverberation, echo and harsh reflected sound, making spaces feel calmer, clearer and more comfortable.

They are especially useful where a traditional wall-to-wall acoustic ceiling cannot be installed, or where the room volume, exposed ceiling or architectural design needs to be maintained.

How does the panel work?

The panel is suspended below the ceiling as a free-hanging acoustic absorber. Sound can be absorbed by the exposed panel surface, helping reduce reflections from hard ceilings, walls, floors and glazing.

Because the panel is suspended below the soffit, it can also create a design feature while improving speech clarity and general acoustic comfort within the room.

What type of noise does it help with?

Ecophon Solo Rectangle panels are used for acoustic treatment, not structural soundproofing.

They are designed to help reduce:

  • Echo
  • Reverberation
  • Room noise build-up
  • Poor speech clarity
  • Sound reflections from hard surfaces
  • General acoustic discomfort in busy rooms

They are not designed to block noise travelling through walls, ceilings or floors. If you need to stop sound passing between rooms, you will usually need a separate soundproofing system with mass, isolation and airtight sealing.

Where can Ecophon Solo Rectangle panels be used?

These panels are suitable for a wide range of internal spaces, including:

  • Offices and open-plan workspaces
  • Meeting rooms and boardrooms
  • Classrooms and education spaces
  • Reception areas and waiting rooms
  • Restaurants, cafés and hospitality spaces
  • Studios and creative workspaces
  • Home offices and media rooms
  • Retail interiors
  • Healthcare and wellbeing spaces
  • Areas with exposed ceilings or services

Why choose Ecophon Solo Rectangle?

Ecophon Solo Rectangle is a premium acoustic ceiling raft with a clean, minimalist appearance. The white rectangular format works well in modern interiors and can be suspended individually, in rows, or grouped across larger ceiling areas.

The larger 1200 x 2400mm panel is ideal for bigger spaces where more absorption and visual impact are required. The smaller 1200 x 600mm option is useful for more compact areas, narrower ceiling layouts or smaller acoustic treatment zones.

Available sizes

  • 1200 x 600mm — compact rectangular panel for smaller spaces, tighter layouts and targeted acoustic treatment.
  • 1200 x 2400mm — large rectangular panel for bigger rooms, open areas and stronger visual impact.

Key benefits

  • Reduces echo and reverberation — improves acoustic comfort in busy or reflective rooms.
  • Free-hanging ceiling panel — ideal where full suspended ceilings are not suitable.
  • Clean white finish — suitable for modern commercial and residential interiors.
  • Straight painted edges — frameless design with a neat architectural appearance.
  • 40mm thick acoustic panel — slim, effective and visually clean.
  • Multiple suspension options — can be installed using suitable Ecophon Connect accessories.
  • Useful for open ceilings — helps maintain room volume and design intent.
  • Available in two rectangle sizes — choose the best size for your space and acoustic requirement.
  • A2-s1,d0 fire classification — suitable for many commercial interior specifications.
  • Premium Ecophon acoustic product — designed for high-quality acoustic treatment projects.

Helpful advice before buying

Ecophon Solo Rectangle panels are acoustic treatment panels. They improve the sound quality inside a room, but they do not soundproof the room from outside noise or stop noise transferring through a building structure.

For best results, consider the room size, ceiling height, hard surfaces, occupancy level and how the room is used. Larger rooms or more reflective spaces may require multiple panels.

Suspension accessories may be sold separately depending on the product listing. Please check whether your order includes the required Ecophon Connect fixing kit, wire hangers, absorber anchors or brackets before installation.

Acoustic Use

Ecophon Solo Rectangle panels are designed to absorb sound within a room. They are most useful in spaces with hard surfaces such as plasterboard, glass, concrete, timber floors, exposed soffits or minimal soft furnishings.

They help reduce reverberation and improve speech comfort, but they do not block sound transfer through the building structure.

Common Installation Methods

Ecophon Solo Rectangle panels are commonly installed using Ecophon Connect suspension accessories, such as:

  • Adjustable wire hangers
  • Absorber anchors
  • Absorber brackets
  • One-point fixing systems where specified
  • Suitable direct or suspended ceiling fixing systems

Always use the fixing method specified for the chosen panel size and ceiling substrate.

Important Performance Note

This product is designed for acoustic absorption inside a room. It is not designed to stop noise passing through walls, ceilings or floors.

The final acoustic result will depend on the number of panels installed, room size, ceiling height, mounting height, hard surface area, furniture, occupancy and overall acoustic design.

For projects requiring reverberation targets, acoustic calculations or compliance-led performance, seek project-specific acoustic advice before ordering.

Handling Advice

Store panels flat, clean, dry and protected before installation. Avoid impact damage to corners, edges and faces.

Keep panels in their packaging until required. Handle large panels with care and use two people for larger sizes, especially the 1200 x 2400mm option.

How to Install Ecophon Solo White Acoustic Panel Rectangle

Ecophon Solo White Acoustic Panel Rectangle panels should be installed using the correct Ecophon Connect suspension accessories for the chosen panel size and ceiling type.

These panels are free-hanging acoustic absorbers. They must be securely suspended from a suitable ceiling or soffit structure and installed according to the relevant Ecophon installation diagram and project specification.

What You’ll Need

  • Ecophon Solo White Acoustic Panel Rectangle
  • Correct panel size: 1200 x 600mm or 1200 x 2400mm
  • Compatible Ecophon Connect suspension kit or fixing accessories
  • Connect absorber anchors or brackets, where specified
  • Adjustable wire hangers, where specified
  • Suitable ceiling fixings for the substrate
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil or marker
  • Laser level
  • Drill/driver
  • Suitable drill bits
  • Step ladder, platform or access equipment
  • Clean gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Dust mask, if drilling overhead

Before You Start

Check the ceiling structure before installation. The ceiling or soffit must be suitable for the weight of the panel and the suspension system.

Plan the panel layout before drilling. Consider lighting, sprinklers, air conditioning grilles, smoke detectors, ceiling services, ceiling height and the visual alignment of the panel.

Check whether your product is supplied as a panel only or as a kit. Suspension accessories may need to be ordered separately.

Step 1: Choose the Panel Position

Decide where the panel will be suspended.

For acoustic performance, panels are often positioned above areas where people speak, work or gather, such as desks, meeting tables, seating areas or reception spaces.

For visual appearance, align the panel with room features such as lighting rows, desks, ceiling beams, walls or furniture layouts.

Step 2: Check the Suspension Height

Decide the finished hanging height of the panel.

A lower suspension height can make the panel more visually prominent and may improve acoustic absorption in the occupied zone. A higher suspension height can create a cleaner ceiling appearance and help keep the room feeling open.

Make sure the panel does not interfere with doors, windows, lighting, ventilation, sprinklers or required head clearance.

Step 3: Mark the Fixing Points

Use the relevant Ecophon installation diagram for the chosen panel size to mark the ceiling fixing points.

Measure carefully and check the fixing positions before drilling. The fixing points must line up correctly with the suspension accessories and absorber anchors.

For larger panels, take extra care with setting out so the panel hangs flat and level.

Step 4: Install the Ceiling Fixings

Drill and install suitable ceiling fixings into the ceiling or soffit structure.

The fixing type must be suitable for the substrate. Common substrates include:

  • Concrete soffits
  • Timber joists
  • Steel structure
  • Suitable suspended ceiling support structure, where approved

Do not fix into weak plasterboard, loose materials or unsuitable ceiling finishes unless the system has been specifically designed for that substrate.

Step 5: Fit the Suspension Accessories

Install the Ecophon Connect suspension accessories according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Depending on the selected system, this may include adjustable wire hangers, absorber anchors, absorber brackets or another approved Ecophon fixing method.

Make sure all components are securely fitted before lifting the panel into position.

Step 6: Prepare the Panel

Carefully unpack the acoustic panel and inspect it before installation.

Check for:

  • Damaged edges
  • Marked or dirty faces
  • Broken corners
  • Incorrect size
  • Missing suspension components

Use clean gloves when handling the panel to avoid marking the white surface.

Step 7: Lift the Panel into Position

Lift the panel carefully into position and connect it to the suspension system.

Use two people for larger panels, especially the 1200 x 2400mm rectangle. Keep the panel level during lifting and avoid bending, dragging or striking the edges.

Connect the panel to the suspension accessories according to the specified Ecophon installation method.

Step 8: Level the Panel

Use a laser level or spirit level to check the panel is hanging evenly.

Adjust the suspension wires or fixing points until the panel sits flat and level. Check the panel from multiple angles, especially if several panels are being installed in a row or grid.

Step 9: Check Alignment with Other Panels

If installing multiple panels, check the spacing between panels and the alignment across the room.

Make sure:

  • Panel edges run parallel where required
  • Spacing between panels is consistent
  • Panels are at the same height unless a layered design is intended
  • Panels do not clash with lighting or services
  • The visual layout matches the design plan

Step 10: Final Safety Check

Before completing the installation, check that all fixings and suspension components are secure.

Confirm that:

  • The ceiling substrate is suitable
  • All fixings are fully engaged
  • The panel is level
  • The panel is not damaged
  • Suspension wires or brackets are secure
  • The panel does not interfere with services or safety systems

Do not leave panels partially fixed or temporarily suspended.

Installing the 1200 x 600mm Rectangle

The 1200 x 600mm panel is easier to handle than the larger rectangle and is useful for smaller layouts, narrower rooms and targeted acoustic treatment.

Even though it is smaller, it must still be fixed into a suitable ceiling structure using the correct Ecophon suspension accessories.

Installing the 1200 x 2400mm Rectangle

The 1200 x 2400mm panel is a large acoustic raft and should be handled by two people.

Plan the lifting route before installation and keep the panel protected from edge damage. Take extra care with levelling because any height difference is more visible on larger panels.

Installation Tips

  • Check whether suspension accessories are included or sold separately before starting.
  • Always use the correct Ecophon Connect fixing method for the panel size.
  • Plan the layout around lights, sprinklers, air conditioning and ceiling services.
  • Use a laser level for accurate alignment.
  • Handle panels with clean gloves to avoid marking the white surface.
  • Use two people for the 1200 x 2400mm panel.
  • Do not fix into weak or unsuitable ceiling materials.
  • Keep panel spacing consistent when installing multiple units.
  • Do not cut or modify panels unless this is specifically approved for the product and project.
  • Use these panels for acoustic treatment, not structural soundproofing.

Important Acoustic Note

Ecophon Solo Rectangle panels reduce reverberation and echo within the room they are installed in. They do not stop noise passing through walls, ceilings or floors.

For best acoustic results, use enough panel coverage for the room size and combine the panels with other acoustic treatments where required, such as wall panels, soft finishes or additional ceiling absorbers.
