Lorient LAS7001 si Perimeter Seal is a slimline, face-fixed door seal designed to improve acoustic and smoke containment around the head and jambs of single swing doors.
The seal combines an aluminium carrier with a flexible silicone rubber gasket. It is fixed directly onto the existing door stops, allowing the gasket to compress against the face of the closed door and reduce open gaps around the frame.

Standard individual lengths are available in 1m and 2.1m sizes. A standard single doorset pack contains:

How to Install the Lorient LAS7001 si Perimeter Seal

Before You Start
Inspect the door and frame before installing the perimeter seal.
Check that:

Correct serious door-alignment, hinge or hardware problems before fitting the seal.
The LAS7001 si can be adjusted to achieve consistent gasket contact, but it should not be used to compensate for a door that is unsafe, severely distorted or unable to close correctly.
Step 1: Measure the Head and Jamb Stops
Remove the seal from its packaging and measure:
- The head stop across the top of the frame
- The hinge-side jamb stop
- The closing-side jamb stop
Allow for mitred corner joints where the head length meets the two jamb lengths.
Measure each section individually. Do not assume that both jambs are exactly the same length or that the frame is perfectly square.
Step 2: Remove the Decorative Cover Strips
Remove the decorative PVC cover strip from each aluminium carrier before cutting or fixing the seal.
Place the cover strips somewhere clean and protected so they do not become scratched, twisted or contaminated.
Keep each cover strip with its corresponding carrier length.
Step 3: Pull Back the Silicone Gasket
Pull the silicone gasket back from the section of aluminium carrier that needs to be cut.
This prevents the gasket from being damaged by the saw and allows the carrier to be cut accurately.
Do not pull or stretch the gasket excessively.
Step 4: Cut the Aluminium Carriers
Cut the aluminium carriers to the measured lengths using a suitable hand saw or power saw.
Allow for mitred joints at the upper corners where the head and jamb sections meet.
Use a suitable mitre box or cutting guide to create clean and accurate corner joints.
Support the carrier during cutting to avoid:
- Bending the aluminium
- Damaging the visible finish
- Distorting the gasket channel
- Creating rough or uneven cut edges
Remove any sharp burrs after cutting.
Step 5: Cut the Decorative Cover Strips
Measure and cut the decorative cover strips to correspond with the finished aluminium carrier lengths.
Cut the strips carefully so that they fit neatly within the carriers and do not overlap at the mitred corners.
Do not fit the cover strips permanently at this stage.
Step 6: Reposition and Cut the Silicone Gaskets
Slide the silicone gasket back into its correct position within each aluminium carrier.
Cut the gasket to the required finished length using a sharp knife.
Make sure the gasket reaches the ends of each carrier without being stretched, compressed or left short.
The upper corner gaskets should meet neatly when the head and jamb lengths are installed.
Step 7: Position the Seals on the Door Stops
Position the cut lengths against the existing door stops at the top and sides of the frame.
Check that:
- The head section is level
- The jamb sections are vertical
- The upper mitred corners meet neatly
- The silicone gasket faces the door correctly
- The carrier does not obstruct hinges, locks or other hardware
- The door can still close into the frame
Use the pre-slotted holes as a guide and mark the pilot-hole positions onto the door stops with a pencil.
Step 8: Drill Suitable Pilot Holes
Remove or hold back the seal and drill appropriate pilot holes at the marked fixing positions.
Select the pilot-hole size according to:
- The supplied fixing screws
- The door-stop material
- The manufacturer’s recommendations
Take care not to drill into concealed wiring, hardware or other services.
For metal construction, use suitable self-drilling and self-tapping screws. Lorient states that these are available on request.
Step 9: Lightly Screw-Fix the Carriers
Position the aluminium carriers back against the door stops.
Lightly secure each length through the pre-slotted holes using the supplied screws.
Do not fully tighten the screws at this stage.
The slotted holes allow the carrier to be moved towards or away from the door face until the correct gasket compression is achieved.
Step 10: Check the Gasket Compression
Close the door and check for uniform contact between the silicone gasket and door face.
Lorient recommends placing a sheet of paper between the gasket and the door, then closing the door.
Pull the paper gently.
Resistance should feel firm and reasonably consistent around:
- The head of the door
- The hinge-side jamb
- The closing-side jamb
If the paper pulls out too easily, move the carrier slightly towards the door to increase gasket compression.
If the gasket is excessively compressed or prevents the door from closing correctly, move the carrier slightly away from the door.
Repeat the test at several points until consistent contact has been achieved.
Step 11: Tighten the Fixing Screws
Once the position of the seal is correct, open the door and tighten all fixing screws.
Tighten the screws sufficiently to secure the aluminium carrier, but do not overtighten them or distort the profile.
Close the door again after tightening and repeat the paper test to confirm that the adjustment has not moved.
Step 12: Fit the Decorative Cover Strips
Fit the decorative PVC cover strips into the aluminium carriers to conceal the screws.
Press each strip fully into position along its complete length.
Check that the cover strips are:
- Straight
- Fully seated
- Secure
- Neatly cut at the corners
- Free from visible damage
If a cover strip later needs to be removed, Lorient advises drilling a small hole at the bottom of the strip and pulling it out with a wire hook or another suitable tool.
Step 13: Complete the Final Door Check
Open and close the door several times.
Confirm that:
- The door opens without excessive resistance
- The door closes fully
- The latch engages correctly
- The seal remains securely attached
- The gasket makes consistent contact
- The upper mitred joints remain neat
- The cover strips remain securely fitted
- No part of the carrier obstructs the door
The installation must not prevent the door from opening, closing or latching correctly.
Installing with an Automatic Drop Seal
Lorient recommends combining the LAS7001 si with either:
- LAS8001 si Drop Seal
- LAS8004 Drop Seal
The LAS7001 si seals the head and jambs, while the drop seal treats the gap beneath the door.
Install and adjust the selected drop seal in accordance with its separate fitting instructions.
The perimeter and threshold seals should create continuous contact without interfering with each other or making the door difficult to operate.
Installing with a Face-Fixed Threshold Seal
Where the LAS7001 si is being combined with a face-fixed threshold seal, Lorient states that the perimeter seal must be fitted to the door frame first.
Once the head and jamb seals have been installed and adjusted, fit the face-fixed threshold seal according to its separate installation instructions.
Installation Tips
- Measure the head and both jambs separately.
