ISL Therm-A-Flex Glazing Seal – 2100mm

ISL Therm-A-Flex Glazing Seal – 2100mm is a flexible, self-adhesive graphite intumescent strip suitable for approved fire-sealing and fire-glazing applications where a rigid strip would be impractical.

The material remains flexible during normal conditions, allowing it to follow glazing beads, aperture edges and other closely controlled construction details. When exposed to fire conditions, the graphite-based material expands with firm pressure to help close the available gap and restrict the passage of flames and hot gases.

The stocked range is available in:

  • 10 × 2mm
  • 15 × 2mm
  • 20 × 2mm

Every profile is supplied in a fixed 2100mm length with a self-adhesive backing.

Flexible Graphite Intumescent Material

Therm-A-Flex is manufactured from an intercalated graphite-based intumescent material.

A complete fire-resistant glazing system may also require:

Therm-A-Flex is not a complete glazing system and does not structurally retain the glass.

Both descriptions refer to the natural dark graphite appearance of the intumescent material. Colour should therefore be treated as a fixed product characteristic rather than a selectable variation.

Available Widths

  • 10 × 2mm: the narrowest stocked profile for approved compact sealing details.
  • 15 × 2mm: an intermediate-width option.

How to Install ISL Therm-A-Flex Glazing Seal – 2100mm

Therm-A-Flex must be installed in the dimensions and position required by the applicable fire-test, doorset or glazing-system evidence.

The manufacturer does not provide one universal glazing arrangement for every Therm-A-Flex application. Confirm the complete specification before applying the strip.

Before Installation

Confirm:

  • The required 10 × 2mm, 15 × 2mm or 20 × 2mm profile
  • The intended strip position
  • The approved fire-resistant glass
  • The glazed-aperture dimensions and location
  • The glazing-bead material and dimensions
  • The required setting blocks
  • The mechanical bead fixing arrangement
  • Any aperture-lining requirements
  • That Therm-A-Flex is permitted by the complete system evidence

Do not modify a certified fire door unless the proposed glazed aperture and sealing arrangement are supported by suitable evidence.

Step 1: Inspect the Glazing Aperture

Check that the prepared opening is:

  • Correctly sized and positioned
  • Square and free from damaged edges
  • Consistent with the approved door or screen construction
  • Free from loose core material and machining debris

Step 2: Prepare the Receiving Surface

The surface receiving the self-adhesive strip must be:

  • Clean
  • Dry

Remove all cutting and machining debris before installation.

Step 3: Confirm the Strip Position

Measure, cut and install the remaining sections.

  • Avoid open gaps.

Step 7: Inspect Before Glazing

Check the installed strip for:

  • Missing sections
  • Open joints
  • Loose adhesive areas

  • Incorrect positioning
  • Contamination

Replace defective sections before installing the glass.

Step 8: Install the Remaining Glazing System

Install the specified setting blocks, fire-resistant glass and glazing beads in accordance with the complete approved detail.

Ensure that:

  • The glass is supported by the correct setting blocks.
  • The required glass-edge clearances are maintained.
  • The Therm-A-Flex remains in its specified position.
  • The glass does not tear or displace the strip.

If you are not home when delivery is attempted, the courier will usually leave a card or contact you with the next steps.

Depending on the courier and service used, they may attempt re-delivery, leave the parcel in a safe place, or take it back to the depot.

For pallet deliveries, someone normally needs to be available to accept the goods, as these are delivered kerbside and cannot usually be left unattended.

If you need to make a change to your order, please contact us as soon as possible after placing it.

We can usually make changes before the order has been processed or dispatched, but once it has entered production, packing, or shipping, changes may no longer be possible.

Our team will let you know what can be amended and whether any additional charges apply.

If an item is currently out of stock, please contact us to check availability.

Some products can still be ordered on a lead time basis, while others may be temporarily unavailable from the supplier.

We will advise you on the expected timescale and whether a suitable alternative is available.
