Reinforced Double-Countersunk Head

The screw uses a PZ2 Pozi recess and is supplied with a compatible PZ2 driver bit.
A correctly fitting driver bit helps transfer torque effectively and reduces slipping or damage to the screw recess.
Keep the driver aligned with the screw throughout installation, particularly as the head begins to countersink.
Waxed Zinc and Yellow Passivated Finish
The carbon-steel screw has a waxed zinc and yellow passivated finish.
The waxed coating helps reduce friction and driving torque, while the zinc and passivated surface provides corrosion protection for normal internal and sheltered applications.
This finish should not be treated as equivalent to stainless steel or a specialist exterior-grade coating.
For exposed external, marine, chemically aggressive or persistently wet environments, select a fixing with a corrosion-resistance classification appropriate to the conditions.
Suitable Materials

The screw has no independent acoustic rating. The sound insulation achieved depends on the complete construction, including the framing, isolation components, board layers, insulation, fixings, joint treatment and perimeter sealing.

How to Install 5.0 × 100mm Woodscrews
Choose the screw length, spacing and embedment according to the materials being joined and the loading applied to the connection.
1. Inspect the Materials
Confirm that the components are sound, correctly aligned and suitable for a countersunk woodscrew.
Do not fix into:
- Rotten or severely split timber
- Loose or crumbling board material
- Unsupported panel edges
- Areas containing concealed pipes or electrical cables
2. Confirm the Required Penetration
The 100mm screw must pass through the first component while retaining sufficient engagement within the receiving timber.
Account for:
- The thickness of the fixed component
- Any board, membrane or isolation layer
- The required embedment into the supporting timber
- The location of concealed services
3. Decide Whether to Pre-Drill
The Type 17 point and cutting thread reduce the need for pre-drilling in many softwood applications.
Use a suitable pilot hole when fixing:
- Dense hardwood
- Close to a board or timber edge
- Into thin or brittle material
- Through plastics or composite components
- Where splitting or cracking would be unacceptable
4. Clamp and Align the Components
Bring the components into their final position before inserting the screw.
Clamp them where necessary to prevent movement and maintain the required joint alignment.
5. Fit the PZ2 Driver Bit
Install the supplied PZ2 bit into a suitable drill-driver or impact driver.
Check that the bit engages fully with the Pozi recess. Replace a worn bit that slips or damages the screw head.
6. Position the Screw
Hold the screw perpendicular to the material unless the fixing detail specifies an angled installation.
Position the point away from weak edges, existing splits and unsupported areas.
7. Start the Screw
Drive at a controlled speed until the Type 17 point and main thread engage securely.
Maintain firm axial pressure to keep the PZ2 bit seated in the recess.
8. Draw the Components Together
Continue driving while checking that the components pull firmly together.
The milling section helps clear debris and reduce friction as the longer screw passes through the material.
Stop and investigate if:
- The screw stops advancing
- The head recess begins to strip
- The timber splits
- The screw bends or becomes misaligned
- Unusually high driving force is required
9. Seat the Countersunk Head
Drive until the head is flush with the material or seated to the depth required by the fixing detail.
The under-head ribs assist countersinking, but the head should not be driven unnecessarily deep.
10. Complete the Final Inspection
Check that:
- The screw is straight and secure.
- The head is flush without excessive material damage.
- The joined components are tightly clamped.
- No splitting has developed around the fixing.
- The screw spacing matches the installation specification.
- The fixing has not damaged concealed services.
Use in Soundproofing Systems
Where the screw is used within an acoustic wall, floor or ceiling construction, follow the system instructions carefully.
Do not introduce screws through resilient or isolated components unless the design specifically requires them, as an incorrectly positioned fixing can form a rigid sound-transmission path.
Important Environmental Note
The waxed zinc and yellow passivated finish is suited primarily to normal internal and sheltered conditions.
Select stainless-steel or suitably coated exterior fixings for persistently wet, exposed or corrosive environments.
