Interdens 2mm Adhesive Radius Hinge Pad – 100 × 30mm is a pre-cut intumescent pad designed for installation behind a compatible radius-corner hinge blade in a fire-resisting timber doorset.
The pad creates a protective intumescent layer between the metal hinge blade and the timber door leaf or frame. When exposed to fire conditions, the material reacts within the hinge recess to help protect the surrounding timber and support the performance of the complete doorset.
Each pad is supplied in one fixed configuration:
Hinges are essential structural components within a doorset, but installing them requires recesses to be formed in the door leaf and frame. These recesses remove part of the timber construction and position conductive metal components within the door edge.
Where required by the fire-test evidence, the Interdens pad is installed directly behind the hinge blade to help protect this vulnerable area.

Norseal identifies the 2mm radius hinge pad as an Interdens Type 36 product.
This is distinct from the manufacturer’s 1mm Type 15 hinge pads. The thickness and Interdens type should not be changed simply because an alternative pad has the same length and width.
A 2mm pad may be required where the tested hinge or doorset arrangement specifies increased intumescent protection. Always use the material type and thickness stated by the relevant evidence.
The rounded corners are designed to correspond with a compatible radius-corner hinge blade.

Whenever a hinge is removed or replaced on a fire-resisting door, inspect the intumescent protection behind it.

The two products are not automatically interchangeable. Use the thickness and material type stated by the hinge and doorset evidence.

Before removing the hinge, establish whether protection is required behind the door-leaf blade, the frame blade or both blades.
Confirm:

Support the door securely before loosening or removing a hinge.
Remove and refit one hinge at a time unless the doorset installation procedure states otherwise.
Proper support prevents the remaining hinges from carrying an unsuitable temporary load and helps maintain the door’s alignment and perimeter gaps.
Remove the specified screws and carefully lift the relevant hinge blade from its recess.
Retain approved screws that remain suitable for reuse. Replace damaged fixings only with screws permitted by the hinge and doorset evidence.
Check that the recess is:
Do not deepen or enlarge the recess unless the resulting dimensions remain permitted by the doorset evidence.
Remove machining dust and loose fibres using a suitable brush or vacuum.
The surface must be clean and dry before the self-adhesive pad is applied.
Do not install the pad over:
Position the pad within the recess before removing the release liner.
Confirm that:
Do not trim or reshape the pad unless this is expressly permitted by the hinge or doorset evidence.
Remove the adhesive release liner without contaminating the adhesive surface.
Align the pad carefully within the recess and press it firmly into place.
Ensure that:
Place the hinge blade directly over the installed pad and align it with the approved fixing positions.
Refit the specified screws progressively and evenly.
Confirm that:
The self-adhesive backing positions the pad; the hinge screws provide the structural fixing.
Where the evidence requires a pad behind both hinge blades, repeat the process behind the corresponding blade in the door leaf or frame.
Use one separate pad for each protected hinge blade.
