Norsound NOR810S+ Automatic Drop Seal – 12 × 30mm

Norsound NOR810S+ Automatic Drop Seal – 12 × 30mm is a rebated door-bottom seal designed to reduce sound, cold smoke, draughts, light and uncontrolled airflow through the gap beneath a timber doorset.

The compact aluminium profile is mortised into the bottom edge of the door leaf and secured using two fixing screws.

When the door closes, a single mechanical actuator activates the internal mechanism and lowers the grey TPE gasket onto the finished floor, sill or threshold plate.

As the door opens, the gasket retracts into the aluminium housing, maintaining floor clearance and helping prevent unnecessary wear caused by continuous contact with the floor.

What is the NOR810S+ used for?

The NOR810S+ is designed for installation at the bottom edge of acoustic timber doorsets.

It can help:

How does the NOR810S+ work?

An adjustable actuator is located at the hinge side of the door. As the door reaches its closed position, the actuator contacts the frame and activates the mechanism.

The flexible TPE gasket then lowers towards the floor or threshold.

When the door opens, pressure is released from the actuator and the gasket retracts into the aluminium housing.

Confirm that the required shortening remains within the cut-back limit for the selected seal.

Step 9: Confirm the Correct Cutting End

Measure the finished length from the actuator end.

Remove the excess material from the opposite, non-actuator end.

Before cutting, reconfirm:

Step 10: Withdraw the TPE Gasket

Deactivating the Drop Seal

Installing with Perimeter Seals

The NOR810S+ treats only the gap beneath the door.

Suitable perimeter seals will normally also be required around the:

  • Door head
  • Hinge-side jamb
  • Closing-side jamb
  • Meeting stiles on relevant double doors

Use the complete sealing arrangement specified by the applicable acoustic, smoke or fire doorset evidence.

Installation Tips

  • Confirm that the door can accommodate a 12 × 30mm mortise.
  • Check the fire-door evidence before machining.
  • Choose a supplied length that can be shortened within its cut-back limit.
  • Remember that the 325mm version can be reduced only to approximately 320mm.
  • Remember that the 425mm version is limited to 105mm of cut-back.
  • Cut the seal to the measured door width minus 5mm.
  • Measure from the actuator end.
  • Cut only the non-actuator end.
  • Position the actuator at the hinge side.
  • Protect the TPE gasket while cutting the aluminium.
  • Remove all timber dust and aluminium swarf.
  • Use both supplied fixing screws.
  • Fit the end cap at the non-hinge side.
  • Adjust the actuator in small increments.
  • Turn clockwise to reduce the drop.
  • Turn anti-clockwise to increase the drop.
  • Do not over-compress the gasket.
  • Check that the door continues to close and latch correctly.

Maintenance Advice

Inspect and operate the NOR810S+ regularly as part of the door-maintenance programme.

Check for:

  • Loose fixing screws
  • Movement of the aluminium housing
  • A loose or missing end cap
  • Damage to the TPE gasket
  • Damage or misalignment at the actuator
  • Debris beneath the gasket
  • Failure of the gasket to retract
  • Loss of contact with the threshold
  • Excessive gasket compression
  • Changes in the door alignment
  • Failure of the door to close or latch

Clean the gasket and threshold using a soft cloth and a suitable mild cleaning product.

Do not apply unapproved oil, grease or lubricant to the internal mechanism.

Important Performance Note

Correct machining, cutting, fixing and actuator adjustment are essential to the operation of the NOR810S+.

The product does not independently create an acoustically rated, smoke-control or fire-resisting door.

Final performance depends on:

  • The construction of the door leaf
  • The door frame
  • The perimeter sealing system
  • The threshold surface
  • The adjustment of the TPE gasket
  • The ironmongery and glazing
  • The surrounding wall construction
  • The quality of installation and maintenance

For certified doorsets, install the NOR810S+ only in accordance with the applicable test evidence, assessment, certification and door-manufacturer instructions.

Delivery & Returns FAQs

If you are not home when delivery is attempted, the courier will usually leave a card or contact you with the next steps.

Depending on the courier and service used, they may attempt re-delivery, leave the parcel in a safe place, or take it back to the depot.

For pallet deliveries, someone normally needs to be available to accept the goods, as these are delivered kerbside and cannot usually be left unattended.

If you need to make a change to your order, please contact us as soon as possible after placing it.

We can usually make changes before the order has been processed or dispatched, but once it has entered production, packing, or shipping, changes may no longer be possible.

Our team will let you know what can be amended and whether any additional charges apply.

If an item is currently out of stock, please contact us to check availability.

Some products can still be ordered on a lead time basis, while others may be temporarily unavailable from the supplier.

We will advise you on the expected timescale and whether a suitable alternative is available.

In some cases, parcel deliveries may be left with a neighbour if you have given delivery instructions and the courier allows it.

Pallet deliveries are less flexible, as they usually require the goods to be accepted in person at the delivery address.
