When exposed to elevated temperatures during a fire, the graphite-based intumescent material expands to many times its original volume. This expansion closes the openings through the grille and forms a solid fire-resisting barrier within the aperture.
The 25mm-deep profile is available in eleven stocked square and rectangular sizes, ranging from 100 × 100mm to 300 × 300mm.
