Interdens 1mm Adhesive Radius Hinge Pad – 100 × 30mm is a pre-cut intumescent pad designed for installation behind a compatible hinge blade in a fire-resisting timber doorset.
The pad provides a thin protective layer between the metal hinge and the timber door leaf or frame. During fire conditions, the Interdens material expands to help insulate the hinge area, slow the charring of the surrounding timber and protect the integrity of the hinge recess.

The white material remains concealed once the hinge has been refitted.

The required quantity depends on:
Check the hinge certificate and doorset schedule before calculating the total quantity.
The pad should only be selected where the supporting evidence permits:
Do not substitute graphite, a different Interdens thickness or a differently shaped pad without supporting evidence.
Do not install a pad that is:
The hinge pad must be installed in the exact position required by the hinge certificate, fire-door schedule or doorset assessment.
Confirm whether protection is required behind the door-leaf hinge blade, the frame blade or both blades before removing the hinge.
Before installation, confirm:
Do not replace the pad with a different intumescent material solely because it fits the hinge recess.
Support the weight of the door securely before removing or loosening any hinge.
Do not allow the remaining hinges to carry an unsuitable temporary load, as this could:
Remove and refit one hinge at a time unless the approved installation method requires otherwise.
Remove the screws from the relevant hinge blade and lift the blade carefully from its recess.
Retain the approved screws where they remain suitable for reuse. Replace damaged screws only with fixings that match the hinge and doorset specification.
Check that the recess is:
Do not deepen or enlarge a certified door’s hinge recess unless the doorset evidence permits the modification.
Remove dust and loose debris using a suitable brush or vacuum.
The surface must be clean and dry before the adhesive backing is applied.
Do not apply the pad over:

Do not cut down or reshape the pad unless the current hinge or doorset instructions expressly permit it.
Remove the adhesive release liner carefully without touching or contaminating the adhesive surface.
Align the pad within the hinge recess and press it firmly into position.
Ensure that:
Place the hinge blade directly over the installed pad.
Align the hinge with the existing approved screw positions and refit the specified screws.
Tighten the screws progressively and evenly so that:

Where the fire evidence requires protection behind both hinge blades, repeat the process behind the corresponding blade on the door leaf or frame.
Use a separate pad for each protected hinge blade.
